The Knit4Monarchs campaign was a playful April Fools’ campaign by the David Suzuki Foundation that imagined a cozy, hand-knit solution to help monarch butterflies on their long migration.

Launched with a straight-faced call for volunteers to knit tiny woolen sweaters for monarchs to "keep them warm" on their journey, the campaign cleverly highlighted the real threats these butterflies face, such as habitat loss and climate change.

The campaign sparked curiosity, laughter, and—most importantly—conversations about real actions people can take to protect monarchs, like planting milkweed and creating pollinator-friendly spaces.
