Walkable Planets is a community art project intended to spur curiosity about the immensity our solar system by installing a scale solar system in the city with planetary wayfinding signs. The first installation was in June 2014, on residential streets between Christie Pits Park and Trinity Bellwoods Park, in Toronto’s west end. Ten signs were installed on existing posts at their approximate distances from each other along a two kilometre route (at a scale of approximately 1-to-2 billion). After discussions with city staff, the signs were re-installed along a similar route in parks, stretching from Christie Pits to Stanley Park South. Take a tour of the Walkable Planets.
